About the Story

A royal-ish tale of kindness, clumsiness, and a whole lot of wonderfully weird adventures.
There’s no rulebook for being a princess. (She checked.)
A gentle, funny audio story for kids (and their grown-ups) about being yourself, even when you’re not totally sure how.

Meet The Creator

Hi, I’m Lorin, the voice of Elora and creator of Technically a Princess.

Working with children, I read a LOT of books. I noticed kids (and even some adults) just seem to calm down when you read to them. One day, I was reading to a child, and soon another joined, then another, and even an adult. Everyone was suddenly calm, and I realized just how powerful a story can be.

I also noticed a pattern. Kids didn’t want me to leave because they wanted “one more story,” and they couldn’t wait for me to come back to read again. That’s when I thought, what if I put my voice training and equipment to use, read stories, and make them available on a platform for children to enjoy even when I’m not there?

Honestly, I was a little scared to start and never imagined anyone would listen. I just wanted to share it with the kids. I quickly realized it wasn’t as simple as recording someone else’s books, so I decided to create my own story. That decision led me down a path I never could have imagined, and sparked the creation of Technically a Princess.

This little series has grown far beyond what I ever expected. It brings me so much joy to hear children connecting with the characters, quoting them, and seeing themselves in the story. And yes, I’ve heard the feedback about it being too short, so I’ve been developing a long-form adaptation that goes deeper into Elora’s world, explores her backstory, and gives more detail about her life and surroundings.

I hope you enjoy exploring Elora’s world as much as I’ve loved creating it.
